"It was like entering a jungle" was how it was said to me, the evening of the drama presentations, July 27, 2009, Hsin Chu City. We did see a few jaws drop that night as the first play began, being that the productions for the evening were Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz.But the summer camp staff were just not prepared to have parents, family members and invited guests sit through another straightforward approach to these enchanting plays. The idea to revise the plays to suit our attending actors, and further, to costume them in leaves was the Chance we took to hopefully leave a memory. |

With the tireless efforts of Chinese staff, the masterful mind of Director Joe, the generosity of Nick and the unflappable nature of Dana, was able to dress my characters in leaves. With make-up artist Lexie, and Hair by Joe, the students got into the game that magical night and took to the stage, comfortable with their scripts and ready to set the house on fire with their "jungleness." |

It is a great privilege to be offered the trust by the owners of American Eagle School to let teachers and staff explore new possibilities while teaching English. The magic that happened for me through all this is here I sit, on vacation in Bali, and as I look at the jungle around me, I see a costume in every leaf. I offer this story so others can think about how to use their talents to make memories. |
