This summer I participated in the Space Camp with Eagle and it was super fun! I’ll tell you now. When I have my feet stepped on America, I only had one feeling in my heart. It was: I’ll start my Camp on my own now! We went to the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Inside we saw the team capsule hanging on the wall. It was very cool! We also saw the robot that was for helping the astronauts to do their work in space’s zero gravity. There was also the space shuttle’s model inside the museum! The coolest thing in the Space Center was the Apollo Program’s Mission Control Center! We saw all the old computers used for the missions.

Then was the Space and Rocket Center located in Huntsville. The first thing we saw when we walked into it was the 1:1 space shuttle model shown in the park outside. Then the teachers took us to the lodge to let us put down our luggage. Because it was morning, the next thing we did was go to eat our breakfast. It was like a buffet in the galley. You might think there was only us inside, right? But, inside there were already some people inside. They also had a two-week space camp in America. The highest thing outside was not the shuttle model. It was the Saturn V Rocket Model. It was 1:1, so it’s super high. There was also another rocket model outside. That was the Saturn 1B Rocket. That’s not all. Beside the Saturn V, there was also a museum called the Davidson Center for Space Exploration. Inside was the REAL Saturn V rocket! Its length was about 145 meters long.

Then one day we made and launched our rocket! The center has their own rocket launch site, so every team makes a rocket to launch. On the launch day, everyone was excited to launch their rockets! Our team’s rocket went all the way up to the sky. Then it fell to the ground. Because it had an engine inside, when we went to pick it, the rocket smelled stinky.

But the most fun thing we did at the center was to have a task. I became the one at Mission Control! My work was to give astronauts commands. Inside the room we used some facilities to control the status of the spacecraft or the astronauts. We had some problems in the mission, but everyone worked together to fix the problem. Everyone participated hard on the mission!

We also experienced the feeling you’ll feel on the moon! Because the gravity is different from Earth, it’s hard to walk probably.

I have fun at the space camp, but if I didn’t come to learn at Eagle, I wouldn’t be able to talk with the teachers without a Chinese teacher! I also must thank my parents for paying the money to let me have a super fun experience this summer vacation!

The summer before last year, my dad and mom brought me and my sister to America for summer vacation. We went to a seven day summer camp. It was difficult for me and my sister because we had to speak English instead of Chinese.
On the first day of the camp, the teachers gave everyone a nickname, so it was easier to remember everyone. My nickname was Boba, because it is similar to my real name Bobo and the other reason is that I like to drink bubble tea.
We saw a lot of animals around the campsite, since it was located on a hill. We saw squirrels and birds all the time. Sometimes we could also see rabbits. We saw a doe walking its fawn through our campsite, and our teacher said we were very lucky because it is very rare to see deer in the campsite.
Exploring the camp’s bear cave was the scariest event. We had to walk carefully on the paths while our teachers told us some stories about the bears. Some of the caves, were hard to climb so we were very nervous and we had to be very careful until we went back to the campsite.
On the last day of camp, our parents were invited to the campsite to see our daily activities in the camp. We had different groups and each one had different performances, including a small concert and singing songs. We performed a drama in our group that was very fun to rehearse and practice.
This American vacation was really different than my life in Taiwan. There are three reasons. First, we had our classes outdoor in America which is different than what I do in Taiwan. Second, the camp encouraged confidence, which I learned a lot about while I was in USA. Last but not least, we learned that we can make our own choices. The experience changed the way, my sister, my mom, and I thought. We learned to make our own decisions in America including packing our bags or deciding what to wear.

Mother Pig told her three sons to live in their own houses. The oldest pig made a hay house. The older pig made a wood house. The youngest pig made a brick house. One day, a Big Bad Wolf wanted to eat them. He blew down the oldest pig’s hay house. Then, he blew down the older pig’s wood house. The oldest and the older pig were very sacred, so they went to the youngest pig’s brick house. They put the hot pot under the chimney to wait for the Big Bad Wolf to go in. The Big Bad Wolf fell in to the hot pot. And then he ran away and never wanted to come back. The three little pigs were happy and safe.

I still remember my best day ever at school. It was one year ago. It was also a windy day in Hsinchu City.
I arrived at school at 7:00 a.m. It was earlier than before. When I went into the class, I talked to my friends. It was the exam day. My friends were very nervous about the exam but not me. One reason was when we finished the exam, we had no homework to do, and we could play whole day at school. Another reason was that we had a party after the exam! We could bring many things to eat, and we played a lot. So after the exam, we ate cookies and candy and played board games all day long.
We will have another exam again soon. I hope it can come quickly, because after that, we can have another fun day at school.

I’ve always wanted to do magic. I love tricks and illusions, and I would love to have special powers to control time, the actions of objects and other people, and to read their minds. It would be an awesome responsibility to have these powers. Don’t worry, I would use my powers for good. Maybe.
If I could control time, I would go back and see the dinosaurs. Don’t worry, I will bring one back for everyone to see. I would also stop time during exams and quizzes, so I can check my books and always answer the questions correctly. During Chinese New Year, I will stop time so we can all have an extra long holiday.
If I could control the actions of objects and other people, in the morning I could just move my fingers and the toothbrush will fly into my hand. With a wave of my hand, my toast will be in the toaster and all my homework will be completed. If an accident or plane crash is about to occur, being able to stop time and control objects will help everyone avoid disasters.
If I could read the minds of others, I can tell if people are holding secrets, good and bad. I can tell what my mom will not tell me. I can tell when teachers want to give us a lot of homework. I can even help solve crimes. When a criminal will not confess, or if police think he is lying, I can help them solve the case.
These powers, if used for good, would be great to have. If used for bad, that might be fun, too. Again, please do not worry. I “promise” to be good with these powers.

When I was walking in the deep, dark forest with my silly friend Henry, we discovered something magical! As I looked down at my feet, I saw a wooden stick, as thin as a tree’s branch.
Looking closer, we noticed this was no ordinary stick! This was a magic wand! We knew this when I carefully picked it up. We thought about the movie. We waved this mystery stick, then said something not in
English,”@#ABC*?QTAT!” I thought about a toad, and Henry thought about a firefly. So, I turned into a fat, yucky toad, and Henry turned into a crazy firefly, just like a flying cockroach! I said it again, “@#ABC*?QTAT!” Henry and I turned back to humans. We thought we could take the train to Hogwarts Magic School! It’s cool! Then, we used the magic wand to teleport back to Taichung. “Amazing!” we shouted. Then we turned invisible, and ran very fast around the world. When we got back to Taiwan, we met an ugly, stupid witch. She told us that the magic wand belongs to her, so we gave it back to her. This was no ordinary walk through the forest. I’ll never forget it.

I found a secret door in my home. It was behind the piano. I pushed on the piano, and I could see the door. I wanted to get in so I pulled on the door. The door was open. When I went in, I was on another planet. I was so scared that I hoped it was just a dream, but it wasn't ! I kept walking and, after two hours, I saw a big thing landed on the planet.
It was a UFO! It made me scared, too! I ran away, but it followed me. I wanted to find the door because I was afraid that it would kill me! I was tired, but I couldn't stop.
When I needed to take a rest, I saw the door! It was in front of me! I ran fast to the door, and I said to myself "Yes!" I closed the door and I locked it. The UFO didn't come. I was happy because I liked this trip. However, I could not open the door any more.

Swimming is my favorite sport. I learned how to swim when I was six years old. I was taught how to swim by my swimming coach.  My swimming coach is not very tall, but he is a nice and kind coach. He never got angry when we couldn’t swim well.
Swimming keeps me healthy and it is fun! I like to swim because I can dive into the water. I always go swimming with my cousins. We play tag and hide and seek in the swimming pool. We often swim on Sunday, but not every Sunday because sometimes it is too cold and sometimes we don’t have enough time.
Learning to swim is not easy. I am glad that at last, I learned how to swim, and now I enjoy swimming!

I have played a lot of games in my life. There’s one that I like the best. It’s called “Basketball vs Soccer”. It’s really fun! I like it a lot. The rules are very easy. You spilt into two teams. Every team will have two soccer balls, and two basketballs. To make them look different, we draw dots on one team’s balls. Then, you draw circles with points on a thin, long table, and draw a foul line. You slide the balls on their front, because it makes it easier. If you slide over the table, your balls will fall down. At last, when every players’ ball has finished, the game ends. We will count the points. The team who has the most points win. I really like this game. I wish everyone can enjoy this game. The second game I like is called “Ground Ping-Pong”. It’s really fun too! First, you have to find a big area with full walls. Then you spilt into two teams. The two teams need to have the same amount of members. After you spilt the teams, you need to draw a middle line. When you start to play, you need to try to not let the ball stop bouncing in your area and catching counts too. If the ball stops in your area, the other team gets one point. The team with the most points wins. I like this game, because it is very active and you can exercise with it. It’s fun and healthy for the body! You can play with your friends, family members and relatives. It can help you to have more family time with your family. You will find out that you are happier and healthier. These are the reasons I love this game.

One day, I was going to a mountain and saw a cave. I went to the cave and saw a notice: “Death or life.” So I kept going and threw a stone, then I saw there was a huge cave down some steps in the floor. I went to the cave in the floor. It was quiet, but then I saw the entrance to the cave was closed! Then I knew I cannot get out of the cave. I looked everywhere and found a question: “+=, ++=, +=+ ,=3, =? 17 12 14 11” I chose and saw the wall crack open. I could see things through the crack. Then I saw a sleeping beast and behind it was a big diamond! So I quickly tiptoed past the monster. Suddenly, the monster was awake. It chased me around and around. I used a camera to take a picture of the monster. The monster was surprised because of the light from the camera. So I dashed and used the diamond to break the wall until the wall was broken. Finally, I escaped through the wall and ran down the mountain with the diamond!

Every time I went to the swimming pool, I always just played with my mom, dad, and friends. One day my mom took me to the swimming pool, and I saw a man that I didn’t know. Then Mom said, “He is going to teach you how to swim.” I went into the water, but it was cold. I always cried when he taught me. I cried but I still learned something. Once I went into the water and I didn’t cry, but my mom cried because she thought I would cry every time. I didn’t. From that day on, I never cried again, and I learned how to swim . Now when I go to the swimming pool, I don’t just play with my mom, dad, and friends. I swim and play in the swimming pool. That is how I learned how to swim. Now I not only know how to swim, but also learn how to play basketball and baseball. I know one thing that all sports players have to try to learn. If you don’t learn, you’ll never know how to play.

My best friend is Woody. We study at the same elementary school, and also study together at Eagle. We met at Eagle two years ago. He is tall and thin. His hair is short and his eyes are small. His nose is small, but his mouth is big. He has black short hair. He is handsome. He is ten years old and 139cm. He likes PE in school. He likes to read comic books in his free time. We read comic books together sometimes. He likes to play games on an iPad at home. He is good at running. He likes many animals, such as elephants, tigers, and monkeys. I like being with Woody, because he is funny. He always makes me happy and he will play with me after I finish my homework in Eagle. Sometimes he will let me borrow his comic books. When we study together, we like to eat cookies. We also like to play on an iPad together. We have a lot of things in common, and we spend lots of time together. That’s why Woody is my best friend.

My mom always tells me to wear a bike helmet when I’m riding a bike. She bought me a very expensive bike helmet and wants me to wear it. I really love that helmet. I like to tell everyone to wear a helmet because it keeps you safe. Even presidents wear helmets when they are riding a bike. My dad and I often go to the park to ride our bikes. But he never wears a helmet. I constantly ask him to wear one. Unfortunately he never listens to me. Maybe he thinks he is a professional. I really hope everyone can wear a bike helmet when they are riding a bike. Wearing a bike helmet is the safest way to ride. You can buy a bike helmet in a sport store or a bicycle repair store. A bike helmet is important for everyone. You also need to remember that riding a bike can keep you healthy. In conclusion, I believe that we should be required to wear a bike helmet because it definitely can save your life one day.

I have had a long dream to travel and explore the world. It's always exciting to plan a trip with my family. This summer, my dad made all of my wishes come true with a trip to the United States of America. After a long flight, we arrived in Los Angeles. I was happy because I would not need to eat disgusting food anymore. We spent a few days in L.A. seeing the sights and then caught a domestic flight to West Yellowstone. Yellowstone has many geysers and the most famous one is Old Faithful. Old faithful is very spectacular and lasts for two minutes when it erupts. Later, on our way back to the hotel, our trip was delayed by a herd of bison in the road. They moved on after two hours when park rangers shooed them away. At last, we made it back to our lodge and had a sweet dream. The following day, we stopped by a beautiful Yellowstone Lake. As we took in the scenery, something moving on the ground nearby caught my eye. After a closer look, I realized it was a snake and shouted for everyone to get back to avoid a bite. Snakes can be scary, but we were lucky to see so much wildlife on our trip. In addition to snakes and bison, we also saw: wolves, ground squirrels, deer, elk, grizzly bears, hawks, and many more. Another memorable experience was rafting on the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park. While rafting, our tour guide found a family of beavers near the river bank. We started counting and were amazed to find that there were ten in all! During our rafting trip, we were also lucky to see a bald eagle sitting on its best. The rafting trip was awesome! After rafting, we went to a restaurant for dinner. At the restaurant, my mother was having difficulty reading the English menu and when it came to order, she randomly chose one of the steaks on the menu. The menu did not have prices and we later learned when we went to the cashier, that my mom had ordered the most expensive food on the menu. We all had a laugh about it, but my mother felt embarrassed, so she asked me to order for her next time. Another experience that I will never forget is horseback riding. The coach taught us how to ride and joined us on our ride. My horse was very playful and often chased the other horses. The coach lead us to a river bed where it was beautiful watching the horses splash in the water as they trotted. He was very knowledgeable about the environment, teaching me about the plants and animals in the area. He also taught me about forest fires and how they affect the area. On our way back to the riding center, we had the horse jump over a series of short bushes. Soon after, we were on an airplane leaving Yellowstone where I sat and I recalled what had happened during our visit. I am lucky to be a student at American Eagle Institute, because if I weren't, I would not have the English ability needed for our trip to America. I will always be grateful to my dad for taking us to America for our summer vacation. It is a memory that I will cherish my entire life.

My favorite holiday is Chinese New Year. Last Chinese New Year, my family and I went to play. We went to a farm where there are cows, sheep, and horses. My favorite animals at the farm are rabbits. When my mom saw a snake, she screamed! To Celebrate Chinese New Year we went to a shooting range. My father said I could try to shoot, but the coat was too heavy for me. So, I didn't shoot any guns. We went to an amusement park too. I played so many games and rode on so many rides. I played on a swinging boat, and carousel. Next Chinese New Year, I will celebrate with my family again. Next time, I would like to fly in an air balloon. I would like to go to see deer too. I would really like to go to Paris for Chinese New Year.

Last week, I used a time machine and traveled to the world in 2080. The year 2080 was very technologically advanced. People drove flying cars. The flying cars are faster than a Bugatti Veyron. Some rich people even had spacecraft! Going to Mars on the weekend was very normal to them. It just takes ten minutes! The year 2080 was technologically advanced, but the environment was awful. When I went to the beach, I didn’t see any animals or plants in the sea. I could only see animals in the zoo. The Amazon Rainforest was just about half as big as in 2016. People didn’t have natural food. The food people ate was unnatural. I think we should stop destroying the Earth. I also gave a technology idea from the future to the government. I hope the year 2080 will become better after I do that.

All I could see is darkness. Everywhere was dark. I wanted to find some light.
I heard some voice approaching my bedroom.
Who was standing outside my bedroom? The door was open. My mother was coming!
She brought a candle to me!
There was a fire on the candle, and then I was able to see the light! My mother told me, “Your bedroom lights are broken!”

“Wow! I’m so happy about the meeting in Paris. Our grandchildren can have a good future!” cried my teacher. Last week, one hundred and ninety countries had a climate change meeting in Paris. They agreed to control carbon emissions to stop the Earth getting hotter. Now the world is two degrees hotter than before. In Taiwan we can even see typhoons in December! That’s so strange! So now we must use more wind power, water power and solar power and stop using so much oil, gas and coal. We use too much coal to make power in Taichung. The air is also polluted because of burning coal. We can use the wind power instead of burning coal to get power, and in our cars we can use electricity instead of gas. Everyone needs to stop making too much CO2 in their lives. We hope this Paris meeting can protect our grandchildren and save the Earth. There are more things you can do to help save the Earth; it’s easier than you think. Let’s start to save our world!

I woke up on a strange island. I just had a knife, some matches, and medicine. I needed to use these three things to live on this island. I used a tree and some big leaves to make a house and used bamboo to make traps to catch animals. I used big rocks to write SOS on the beach, and found some wood and matches to make a fire. I went to a beach to find some food. I used bamboo and wood to make a fishing rod to go fishing and then started a fire to make dinner. Four weeks later, I saw a cargo ship come. I used the matches to make a big fire, and the ship stopped. They took me back to my home, and my parents were very surprised. Finally, I work up again, and found out that it was just a dream. Oh, What A Dream!
